The Mystique of Little League Baseball in Bellefonte
The Mystique of Little League Baseball in Bellefonte
My journey to creating a website dedicated to old newspaper articles about Bellefonte Little League began last spring. Watching my grandson play parent-pitch at Webster Fields, I quickly sensed something special about baseball in Bellefonte.
As I delved into the league's rich history – from the legendary '58 and '69 teams to figures like Frank Webster and Pickle Rossman, and the countless dedicated officials, coaches, umpires, fans, and thousands of players who have graced Webster Field since 1949 – I realized the unique mystique of Bellefonte Little League. It's more than just a game; it's being part of a deep-rooted tradition committed to Little League's founding principles from 1939: teaching kids sportsmanship, fair play, and teamwork to help them become good citizens. This enduring tradition is the very DNA of Bellefonte Little League, connecting past, present, and future participants.
