Little League Playoffs Set For District 4
Seven teams from District Four will swing into diamond action for what may lead to state and national honors in Little League play on July 18 and 21.
All-Star teams from three leagues in this area, Nittany Valley, Bellefonte and Penns Valley, will be picked this week and begin preparation for the playoff games. All three will play on July 21.
Bellefonte will play at Belleville, meeting Reedsville, while teams from the Nittany Valley League and Penns Valley circuit will meet in Lewistown.
The opening game in this district will pit the Lewistown National representative with McAllisterville. The Lewistown American team drew a bye for the first round and will meet the winner of the Penns-Nittany game.
One loss eliminates a team from further play. The teams will not decide which will get last bats in the games until before the contest when a coin-toss will be the factor. Each game will be six innings long.
A national rule that was not strictly adhered to in this area will have to be abided by in the playoffs. If a player is 12 years-old and has not pitched 18 innings before this year, he is not eligible to pitch.

Loudenslater fanned 11 of the 19 men to face him while his teammates picked up two runs in each of the first and third frames. The victors will face either the Lewistown Nationals or McAllisterville. The game will be on Thursday at Lewistown.
First-inning singles by Dering, Berich, and Ryden produced two tallies. Two more insurance runs, plus the game’s best play, came in the third. Struck doubled, but Kling picked him off second. John Teamanthen walked Dering, Berich singled, and Ryden doubled.
