Midget All-Stars Picked; Playoffs Begin Monday
Bellefonte and State College will be the scenes of Dist. 9 Little League playoff games involving area teams Monday night.
At Bellefonte's Little League Field, on Fifth Ave. near Allegheny St, the Bellefonte all-stars will take on a team from the Mountain Top Little League.
At State College's Legion Park, the Nittany Valley Little League all-stars will entertain the all-star club from the Penns Valley Little League. Time for both contests will be 6 p.m.
The State College site represents a switch from Centre Hall, where the game was originally scheduled. The change was made by agreement of both leagues last night.
All four leagues have selected their all-stars, who have been practicing this week. All but the Nittany Valley Little League have suspended operations during playoff time. And Nittany Valley will call off its game next Monday night. The "B": team schedule has been postponed.
The Bellefonte Little League all-stars include:
From Decker Motors - Bob Walker, John Sodergren, John Conaway.
Kecklers - Dennis Leathers, Harry Mills Jr., Tom Crater, Richard Lyons.
Motors - Jim Hartle, Rod Mitchel, Bill Foresman.
Two alternates were also selected - Charles Fletemake, of the Motors and Bob Burns of Deckers.

Little Loop Teams Set Final Game
Bellefonte and Nittany Valley Little Leagues will meet Thursday for the championship of District 9, following opening-round victories last night.
Nittany Valley blanked Penns Valley, 9-0, while Bellefonte was whitewashing the Mountaintop Little League, 11-0.
Nittany Valley scored in all but the second inning in blanking the Penns Valley 'Stars. Three runs in the fourthand three in the fifth put the game far out of reach.
Bellefonte scored in every inning. Four runs in the third and four more in the fifth made the big difference.
The district championship will now be decided at Bellefonte Thursday as Nittany Valley meets Bellefonte in the finals.
In other region Little League contests, Emporium stopped Kittaning, 7-0; Ridgeway took Brockway, 2-1; Brookville beat Reynoldsville, 13-2; Punxsutawney topped DuBois, 10-1; Clearfield measure Curwensville, 8-3; and Four-Leaf Clover downed Philipsburg, 9-5.

Nittany Valley Midgets Winners Over Bellefonte
Nittany Valley took another giant step in Little League Baseball playoffs last night, vaulting past neighboring Bellefonte in a tightly-played game at Bellefonte, 6-3.
The win puts Nittany Valley into the District semi-finals on Monday. Four-Leaf Clover, a league from the Karthaus-Keywaydin area will provide the opposition at the Nittany Valley park near Pine Hall at 6 p.m.
The Clovers eased by Clearfield at another quarter-final game last night, 8-4.
Last night’s game at Bellefonte was actually put on ice fairly early. the victorious State College area team scored pairs of runs in the first and second innings for a 4-1 lead after two.
Bellefonte scored one in the first, another in the third and in the fifth. The home team collected 11 hits, but couldn’t bunch them to scoring advantage.
Nittany Valley on the other hand, wasted no safe blows. All six runs were scored on five of the seven hits with only two safeties going for naught.
A good-sized crowd looked on at the 5th Ave. diamond for the brief hour and 15 minutes it took to get the contest in.
