8 County Little Leagues Announce All-Star Teams
Eight County Little League All-Star teams have been selected for the District 10 and 12 Tournaments scheduled to get under way one week from tonight.
Bellefonte, which won the State Championship in 1958, will travel to Moshannon Valley next Thursday in a first-round District 10 game.
In other opening round games (District 10), Mountain Top will entertain Osceola; and Clearfield will travel to State College's Gill field to meet Nittany Valley.
In District 12 actions next Thursday, Inter-Community plays at Flemington and Penns Valley journeys to Mill Hall. Penns Valley competed in the District 13 playoffs the past few years.
Pleasant Gap, Tri-County and Suburban drew byes. they will begin play one week from Saturday. Pleasant Gap visits Four Leaf Clover; Tri-County entertains Philipsburg; and Suburban travels to the home field of the Bellefonte-Moshannon Valley winner. All games start at 6 p.m.
Each team is composed of 14 players, excluding alternates.
The league presidents: Bellefonte (Frank Webster); Penns Valley (Roy Held); Pleasant Gap (Carl Gettig); Suburban (John Barr); Nittany Valley (George Miller); Inter-Community (Fred Lingle); Tri-County (Roy Carson); and Mountain Top (George Padisak)
The Southern Tier and Northern Tier winners will meet for the District 10 title Saturday, July 27. The site will be announced later. All area teams in District 10 are members of the Southern Tier.
All-Star practice sessions started earlier this month. The rosters:
