Tri-County, Nittany in Close Wins
The late innings wrecked Little League All-Star teams from Bellefonte and Pleasant Gap last night.
Nittany Valley scored three times in the fifth to beat Bellefonte at Gill Field in State College, 4-2, and Tri-County, thanks to a four-run sixth, edged Pleasant Gap at Bald Eagle, 5-4.
Nittany Valley will entertain Mountain Top in a second round District 10 (Southern Tier) game Saturday at 6 p.m., and Suburban (State College), which drew a bye last night, will take on Tri-County at HRB-Singer Field at the same time.
Philipsburg faces Mo Valley tonight. In other Southern Tier action Saturday, Osceola travels to 4 Leaf, and Clearfield gets the Philipsburg-Mo Valley winner.
The collection for the Bellefonte-Nittany Valley game totaled $40.
In last night’s District 12 (Area 2) action at Jersey Shore, Inter-Community and Jersey Shore played five innings to a scoreless tie. It was called because of rain and will be resumed tonight. Penns Valley plays the winner of this game Saturday.
