Bellefonte Tops State Nationals
Three Centre County Little League All-Star teams - Bellefonte, Penns Valley, and Inter-Community - Survived opening-round playoff action last night.
Bellefonte defeated State College's visiting National Leaguers at Bellefonte, 7-0. Bellefonte will now entertain Osceola tomorrow at 6 p.m. in a District 10 game.
Penns Valley will play Watsontown in a District 13 game tomorrow at Millheim starting at 6 p.m. Penns Valley returned from Muncy last night with a 6-5 victory. Watsontown, nipped Hughsville last evening, 5-4.
Inter-Community is scheduled to square off with Lock Haven's Nationals today at 6 p.m. following last nights 9-8 win at Renovo. Inter-Community is competing in the District 2 tourney.
In District 10 Northern Tier action last night, DuBois beat Clearfield, 5-0.
Montgomery downed West Union, 10-0; Lewiston Americans beat Millersburg, 8-6; and Big Valley blanked Snyder county, 9-0, in District 13 action. One game was postponed.
Four games involving seven County teams are scheduled tomorrow.

Bellefonte Wins by 6-2; State Ousted
Bellefonte’s Little League All-Stars beat Osceola last night at the Fifth Ave. field, 6-2, and Phillipsburg defeated Nittany Valley American League, 4-2, in last night’s District 10 action.
Bellefonte will now play Mountain Top’s All-Stars today at Bellefonte. Game time is 6 p.m.
Philipsburg will face the Bellefonte-Mountain Top winner tomorrow at Philipsburg.
The Southern tier champ will meet the North’s representative Friday.
Bellefonte won the Southern Tier title several years ago en route to the State Little League title.

Bellefonte in Southern Tier Finals Tonight
The Bellefonte Little League All-Stars moved into the finals of District 10’s Southern Tier playoffs by defeating Mountain Top last night at Bellefonte, 12-0.
Phillipsburg will entertain the Bellefonte team today at 6 p.m. Tonight’s winner will meet the Brookville-Punxsutawney winner Friday for the District 10 title.
Bellefonte, undefeated in three elimination games to date, will be up against a team that has knocked off Pleasant Gap and Nittany Valley American Leaguers.
Brookville beat Curwensville last night, 7-2, to reach the Northern Tier finals. Tonight’s Punxsutawney-Brookville game will be staged at Brookville.
Punxsutawney, the defending District 10 titlist, beat Osceola a year ago.

The District 10 Little League championship game will be played at Clearfield tomorrow at 6 p.m. between Philipsburg and Punxsutawney.
Last night Philipsburg beat Bellefonte, 4-0, and Punxsutawney, the defending champ, crushed Brookville, 11-5.
Meanwhile, the Inter-Community League (Blanchard, Howard, Beech Creek, Lamar, Orviston and Salona) maintained its winning ways by defeating Jersey Shore at Lock Haven, 2-0.
